BI-7000 LIQUID & CHEMICAL FLOW CONTROLLER |
||
Flow control of chemical and other liquid media at very low flow rates has been and continues to be considered the industry challenge with ongoing need for technical improvement. Control valves used with flow meters have a series of engineering and application problems for which no easy solution is often available. Valve isolation, media compatibility of valves, use of switching on/off vs. proportional valves, ‘volume dead spaces’, speed of valve response to an input, “sticktion”, and pressure losses due to insertion all significantly impact design and performance of chemical flow control devices. Couple these challenges with the inherent limitation of flow metering technology at very low flow rates (undetectable bypass flow of rotating paddle wheels and turbines, low flow sensor signal and high sensor noise at low flow, vibration accuracy losses of Coriolis flow sensors, inability to measure non-conductive media by magnetic flow sensors), and a difficult problem is even more acute.
Applications benefiting from this advance in low flow control are common: R&D, analytical laboratories, chemical dosing control, pharmaceutical and bio-pharmaceutical drug discovery and process control, on-line chemical and medical analyzers, additive and batch control, chemical and bio-warfare sensors and control, industrial hygiene and pollution control equipment – all need advanced low flow chemical control.
