The BI-5000 Liquid and Water Flow Meter incorporates the same high quality pressure sensors that are used in all Bowman Industry & Manufacturing products but without Corroperm™. They sense differential pressure across a laminar flow element (LFE) for volumetric flow information with no moving parts. If 1% full scale accuracy under 2 ccm is required, the BI-5000 is ready to use. Flow rates of the BI-5000 are standard from 2ccm to 5 LPM covering many flow meter applications. If a very low pressure drop because of low head pressure of a Peristaltic pumping device (less than 5psi) is required, the BI-5000 flow meter accommodates.

Measurement of water and non-aggressive liquids can be important for laboratories, facilities and plants, water and wastewater processors, utilities, and research and development companies. The same accuracy that is required for chemicals should also be available for water and non-aggressive liquids. Moving and rotating flow measurement parts wear and require a certain measure of ‘bypass’ flow to pass undetected, especially in low ranges under 10 ccm. Paddle Wheel and Turbine flow sensors suffer this effect. Non-invasive measurement sensors such as Magnetic and Coriolis types either need a conductive media or vibration and the resulting delicate construction introduces ‘noise’ to the sensors thus curtailing measurement precision at very low flow rates. Inferred flow devices that pump liquids with the practical benefit of no contact with the flowing media, notably Peristaltic Pumps, use compressible tubing material that is squeezed and de-compressed repeatedly. The tubing material is known to degrade due to loss of elasticity and this degradation significantly affects flow rate accuracy. As much as 50 % loss of accuracy within a year has been reported.
